Brian White and Peter George Certified

Brian White and Peter George both moved from apprentice technician to Lead Technician by passing the ASCS (Air System Cleaning Specialist) exam proctored by NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association). The test is not an easy one and demonstrates how thoroughly they have both learned the skills needed to properly clean HVAC systems in the homes and businesses of Safety King’s customers.

NADCA is the internationally recognized certifying body for the air duct cleaning industry and offers several certifications for those employed by member companies. The first and most critical certification for anyone working in air duct cleaning is the ASCS, which both Brian and Peter earned this past month. We are very proud to have each of them working here.

Safety King is unique among the many companies providing air duct cleaning in Michigan in that we GUARANTEE a NADCA certified technician on every job we do. We sometimes provide a helper technician as well on sizable jobs but there is always at least one, and sometimes two, technicians who have earned the ASCS designation.

21st Annual NADCA Convention

Safety King has just returned from the 21st Annual Conference and Exposition of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) in Tucson, Arizona. We were represented at the convention by Mike Palazzolo (Founder), MJ Palazzolo (President and CEO) and Marcus Palazzolo (Operations Manager).  The convention was at the beautiful Westin La Paloma, March 27-30, 2010.

The photo below shows Marcus exhibiting at the 1-800-AIRDUCT / MOIIK  booth at the exposition (www.1800airduct.com and www.moiik.com).

The keynote address, The Fun Factor,  was delivered by Christine Cashen. Ms. Cashen was introduced from the podium by our own MJ Palazzolo.

Safety King (www.safetyking.com) was a founding member of NADCA and is the only remaining charter member of the association. NADCA was the first and is still the largest professional organization of air duct cleaners in the world. It was NADCA that brought the world the first and most comprehensive published, public standard for air duct cleaning and restoration, the ACR Standard (Assessment, Cleaning and Restoration of HVAC systems).

Safety King sponsors NADCA’s 17th Annual Meeting and Exposition.

Held in Dallas, Texas, the “2006 Indoor Environments” meeting was one of the most successful to date. Sponsored by Safety King, attendance was robust and the programs were informative and powerful, yet focused and concise.

New initiatives in training and certification were introduced and the standards for member companies continue to be raised. A hot topic of discussion was a new member designation exclusively for those companies that guarantee certified ASCS personnel on every jobsite, something Safety King has done for years.

Below, Safety King President Michael S. Palazzolo has the honor of introducing the keynote speaker George Hedly.

After the keynote address it was off to the exhibit hall where Michael spent hours promoting the healthy growth of the organization as well as that of the industry as a whole. “We continue to distance ourselves from the cheap, untrained companies of the past. The public is becoming more aware of the disservice these ‘blow-and-go’ companies can do to an uninformed consumer. The evidence has become overwhelming that it is imperative to hire only trained, licensed, and certified companies equipped with the best tools. And this only makes sense. If we demand the highest standards from those we hire to clean our teeth, repair our cars or care for our pets, why wouldn’t we demand the same of a company servicing the systems that control indoor air quality for us and our families?”

Symbolic of Safety King’s dedication to the trend toward higher industry standards, Operations Manager Michael J. Palazzolo, below, accepts the first place award for new member sponsorship.
